My spirit calls Cascadia "home". Wandering this planet for twenty five years, the first time my heart beat as one with the land was when my feet touched down in Seattle. She called me to her. Every day the universal language of vibration passes through her dark forests and leaf-covered soil, gurgles in her streams and rivers and straight into my soul. Her piercing gaze looks at me through the eyes of a thousand Salmon as they swim by to continue the cycle of fertility. This is the last of the great wilderness, here in Cascadia, stretching from southern Alaska to northern California. From the Rockies to the Pacific, we all share the precious Columbia watershed.
We the people of Cascadia are learning - some slowly, some quickly - what it takes to live in harmony with the land; the principles of permaculture permeate. The blue, white and green stripes and symbolic doug fir of our flag acknowledge what is true wealth. Clean water, clean air, healthy ecosystems - that is what makes healthy, loving people. We say enough with greed, corruption, and exploitation. We will not take it anymore. The time has come to stand together and defend what we know to be true and just. The time has come to share meals with our neighbors and seriously discuss what it would look like to live by our own terms, not those of Wall Street that has so deeply corrupted the United States government. Occupy Portland is creating space for discussion and action to happen right here, it's called the Neighborhood Assembly. The US constitution was written by rich white men for rich white men. It will never serve our needs. Serious change must come from us for us. We have the power to create home rule. Cascadia - Defend, Educate and Unite!
